I distinctly remember, on my grandparents’ farm, the gentle Iowa summer breeze blowing the plaid curtains on the slightly a jar window with a freshly baked homemade peach pie cooling on the windowsill. The fresh cut peonies and roses on the doily that my great grandmother hand crocheted in the center of the farm table, that the literally smelled like heaven on earth.
Now, if you know me, you will not be surprised that I was the little girl that begged my grandma to let me “help” bake that pie. While it was cooling, I would run out to the flower garden and curate just the right bouquet of fresh cut flowers while grandpa mowed the lawn, making me a designer “in-training”!
I have always had the core elements of design in my being. I believe this comes from my mom who herself has always had a flare for interior design. At one point, the 80’s she even sold a home interiors line called “Happy Things”, that as a little girl I was obsessed with. Oh, and we never missed and episode of Designing Women! Remember that show…? Loved it! Color, texture, and balance of organic and manufactured items creates such a richness in all our lives. I love dwelling in my home, it is my heart and I find peace and serenity in it. My Midwest upbringing has given me deep roots while spurring me to want to experience the unknown in design and travel, which to me go hand and hand.
In the early 90’s my parents, older brother and I moved from Iowa to Central Minnesota. What a gorgeous state full of some of the kindest people I have ever met! Many of my lifelong friendships came out of this move. I grew up playing soccer, running track, and enjoying the recreation that comes along with the beautiful lakes and rivers that abound here. I went on to graduate from St. Cloud State University and Regency Beauty Institute. I married my high school sweetheart and best friend; we have two cats that we love to pieces and genuinely enjoy being an Aunt and Uncle to our nieces and nephews. We built our current home and we plan to build a new lake home in the next year. This has been a goal of ours ever since I can remember, and we are so excited to live on water! We enjoy the outdoors and love to fish. We also love to travel and try new cuisines and experiences. My husband loves to cook and is always looking for any reason to try a new restaurant in a new city that we have never been to and I am more than happy to tag along. I love spending time with friends, family, and baking. I also get a lot satisfaction in organizing areas of my home and have been told that I have a real knack for it.
I have been a personal hair stylist to my clients for many years behind the salon chair and am now branching out into home styling and design. I absolutely love transforming a home with staging and I know it is a true success if I want to linger in the space when it is all finished, and when the home owner gets an offer in just a couple days after sitting with no offers for several months prior to staging. In design, I love selecting color, furniture and accessories that creates a lovely space that fells luxurious to the client, within any budget. I also enjoy the challenge of working through space issues by getting creative and reimaging what is possible, weather it be a closet or a living room. I do my best to exceed my client’s expectations and guide them through their dream project, whatever that may be. I respect my clients and appreciate being entrusted with one of their most valuable and prized possessions, their home.
